Landline Book Review

Title: Landline
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Publisher: Orion books
Rating: 5 stars

A brief summery: Georgie is having marriage trouble. Her husband has taken her kids away for Christmas. Georgie is in despair and cant get hold of her husband, until she finds a magic phone which means she can call her husband in the past. Will she be able to save her marriage, is it worth it?

Summarize in a sentence:
Kathy- the most lovable Rowell novel yet.
Bee- naturally amazing.

Review:
All of Rainbows books are amazing this is no exception. Rainbow is our favorite author and continues to impress. I loved the character of Georgie because she reminded me of rainbow, I could see her personality reflected in Georgie. The story line was original because of the time travel element in a contemporary novel.

I preferred reading about the Neal from Georgies past because he was more open and kinder to Georgie and this was implied to show that their past relationship is better than their current situation. One thing that i didn't like was that for someone who was a comedian writer and portrayed to be naturally funny, she didn't have any comedic lines like you would expect to have from her, although I find her friends and family are all rather amusing and make up for her lack of comedic moments. Especially her sister was very funny with her pizza boy crush in the pug scene.

I was disappointed in the ending because Neal didn't provide a satisfying reaction to seeing Georgie. I
thought he would be excited and relieved to be reunited with Georgie but he didn't act any different. I felt that Neal became a sour character as the novel went on and I near despised him at the end, and I didn't see why there was a attraction between the college students of Neal and Georgie, they didn't seem very compatible and there was very little change between them as they got older.
A MUST READ

Legend Book Review

Title: Legend
Author: Marie Lu
Publisher: penguin
Rating: 3.25 stars
Legend Marie Lu Book cover.jpg
A brief summery: Legend is about a boy called Day who is a criminal and a girl named June who is the countries prodigy. On the run and undercover they meet by chance. Day murdered Junes brother and now she is seeking revenge.
Summarize in a sentence:
Kathy- fast paced and unpredictable
Bee- ćleche ridden, unrealistic and predictable.
Review:
*disclaimer: this is not a re telling of Les misèrables likes it claims on the cover.
This book took place in the future, where America is split into two halves and the world is thriving without them. Day, an outcast rebel (of course there had to be an outcast in this novel, because it isn't a YA story without one these days) with a stupid name, is the male lead of this novel. One half of america called the republic has a plague that only the rich can cure themselves of.
I thought the characters where stupid, shallow and lacking personality. Although they were determined they stood up for what they believed in and tried to protect their family (unsuccessfully). The romance between June and Day is completely irrational, and i refuse to believe that June a right army officer would fall in love with a criminal and a person who lives on the street. Also it is insta-love, which is unrealistic and hard to believe, but their relationship develops and changes throughout the book, but that still doesn't forgive the love at first sight romance.
The setting of this book is in the future, after the polar ice caps have melted due to climate change. Floods destroyed the land and there are wars raging to gain the little land remaining. Other countries who are thriving, refuse to help the people of the republic who are living under a corrupt government (does that not sound like every book ever).
The plot in this book is very surprising and eventful. I however think the plot of the story was pointless because the  purpose changed half way through. This story was very fast paced which kept you hooked and wanting to know more. There was a lot of surprising and unexpected plot twists that made it interesting and different, however the government was very typical of a YA book (why does it have to be so cliche)
In conclusion, I thought that this didn't live up to the hype that surrounded it and was a major let down. It also didn't match its claim to be a retelling of Les miserables. There was noting that set it apart from other novels in this genre. But i liked the duel perspectives and the side characters.
